Sherpa Adventure Gear uses sustainable, eco-friendly products

bluesign® Approved Fabrics

bluesign® is an independent approval system that pursues a unique approach to minimizing the environmental impact of making a product throughout the entire production process –from start to finish. This holistic approach unites partners of the textile industry in order to realize environmentally friendly, sustainable textile production worldwide.

Oeko-tex Standard

STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) is an independent certification system by OEKO-TEX® for sustainable textile productions. The STeP certification process monitors the use of environmentally friendly technologies and products, sustainable use of resources and social working conditions.

Polygiene® utilizes low concentrations of silver salt (silver chloride), which has antimicrobial properties and is naturally present in water and soil, to safely neutralize and inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungi, meaning clothes stays fresher for a longer periods of time. It is applied permanently and will not wash out during normal cleaning. Polygiene® silver salt technology is only active on the textiles itself and there is no effect on the natural bacterial flora of the skin.

23% Sustainable Concepts

Organic cotton

Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Farmers of organic cotton follow practices that maintain the soil, conserve water and support biodiversity. Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. In addition, federal regulations prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed for organic farming.

Recycled Fibers

We use a varierty of fabrics including Thermal Pro® with Repreve® from Polartec® and recycled polyester that transform recycled plastic bottles into fabric. We also use a variety of insulation from Primaloft® which uses 50% or more post-consumer recycled fibers. Using these recycled products lessens our dependence on petroleum as a source of raw materials. It also limits the discards, thereby prolonging landfill life and reducing toxic emissions from incinerators.

Modal® is a natural fiber extracted from beechwood trees, a sustainable raw material. The fiber structure and low fiber rigidity gives Modal® yarns and fabrics unparalleled softness. Easy-to-care-for fiber for travel applications.

Tencel® is a natural fiber that regulates body temperature better than synthetic fibers. It utilizes nanofibrils for natural wicking without additives. The canals set between the nanofibrils move the absorbed moisture, pushed by the body's heat, to the surface to dry quickly leaving the fabric feeling dry against the skin. Tencel® is also naturally antibacterial and is derived from eucalyptus trees and its clean production system reuses 98% of its by-products. Feeling extremely soft without the toxic by-products of other soft fabrics it also provides an incredible drape.
